THE
MISSION OF THE COUNCIL OF CHURCHES
OF GREATER BRIDGEPORT IS TO TURN
FAITH INTO ACTION BY ENABLING
CONGREGATIONS AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS
TO COMBINE RESOURCES AND EXPERTISE
TO PROVIDE PROGRAMS THAT HELP PEOPLE
AT RISK MEET THEIR URGENT NEEDS.
The Council of Churches of Greater
Bridgeport was founded in 1945. For
67 years we
have worked in partnership with area congregations, community groups, local
foundations, and individuals who share our commitment and contribute
financially to help us to care for those in need. We focus our mission of care
in three areas: Kids, Poverty and Crisis, Faith in Action

KIDS: Project
Learn challenges more than 200 children to learn through after-school programs
in five Bridgeport neighborhoods. Janus House Center for Youth in Crisis
provides intervention and counseling for youth and families in Greater
Bridgeport .

POVERTY AND CRISIS: Hunger Outreach and a network of
41 local feeding programs prepare and serve the equivalent of
over 2.2 million meals a year
to the region's neediest children, families, and adults. CO-OP Center provides
a wide array of support and training services to men and women transitioning
from the justice system to the community.

FAITH IN ACTION:
Bridge Building brings individuals and groups from all religious, cultural and
ethnic backgrounds to celebrate their differences and build upon their common
values, concerns, and goals to effect positive change.
